What is a Character?
In a story what is a character and what is it’s purpose?
How does the artist/author
communicate, or show, aspects of the character so that an audience of people can understand?
A Character Is:
Something with human characteristics that serves a purpose
in a story.
A character has to have some level of
characteristic or personality
of a person, a human being. Even though the character might not
be human.
What about this bird makes it a Character?
Think about what you can see and
What kind of peronality this character exhibits.
visual character (what he looks like)
personality (how you think he will behave)
This flamingo character begins with a study of a flamingo's structure. Once the anatomical sctructure of the flamingo is known a
character can be made starting with basic shapes defining major elements. Then finish off with a suit, tophat, and monacle.
